Issuing Credit Notes

Learn when and how to issue a credit note to correct or cancel an invoice.

Steps

    Open the finalized invoice

    Navigate to Sales > Invoices and click on the invoice you need to credit.

    Click "Create Credit Note"

    From the invoice detail page, click the Create Credit Note action button.

    Adjust the amounts

    By default, the credit note mirrors the full invoice. You can adjust line items for a partial credit.

  4. 4

    Finalize the credit note

    Review the credit note and click Finalize. The credit note is linked to the original invoice automatically.

Tips

  • Credit notes are the legal way to correct a finalized invoice.
  • You cannot delete a finalized invoice — always use a credit note instead.
  • The credit note references the original invoice number for audit compliance.
